Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is happy Darren Bent is among the over-age players on Team GB's squad list.

Bent is one of SEVEN from the Midlands club in the running for the Olympic football team.

McLeish said: "I know everyone is worried about the dates of the Olympics and players being taken out of your squad for the build-up to the new season. But how can you deny players that opportunity?"

Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan, 22, and English trio Nathan Delfouneso, 21, Nathan Baker, 20, and Gary Gardner, 19, have also received letters from Team GB chief Stuart Pearce.
