Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has told new signing Matt Lowton he can be an instant starter.

The Sheffield Telegraph says Villa won the race for Lowton's signature by promising the former Sheffield United full-back an immediate place in their first-team squad.

Lowton completed his much-anticipated move to the Premier League club on Friday when he penned a lucrative four-year contract with Lambert's side.
