Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert admits Darren Bent is not in his new season plans.

The striker has been linked with Newcastle United.

Lambert told talkSPORT: "I've heard the rumours as well [about a bid from Newcastle] and if something comes in we'll just have to wait and see but I've not heard anything at the minute about Darren Bent's situation.

"We're preparing [for next season] without Darren. He's been a good servant to Aston Villa but we have to move on the way we see fit to try and make Aston Villa a success."
