AJ Soares could make his debut for new club Viking Stavanger next month.

The 26-year old American defender, who joined the Norwegian side from New England Revolution in February, but copped a knee injury during pre-season training.

Soares is on his way back to full fitness from the sprained ligament with Viking suggesting he will fit enough to make his debut sometime in May.

"He is on schedule," Viking press officer Ole J. Askeland told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday.

"We hoped he will be back on the field in a month's time."
