Victorious Chelsea will be happier heading into Arsenal clash – Cahill

Gary Cahill reveals that the midweek Champions League victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv has lifted the spirits at Chelsea.

Following a host of poor results in the Premier League, Chelsea managed to get back to winning ways with a 4-0 drubbing of the Israeli champions in the midweek Champions League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Admittedly, the Israeli side were not the most challenging of opponents for Chelsea but defender Cahill has stated that the win was very important in helping lift the morale of the team.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Cahill said: "It will be of use because we'll go into training in better spirits than we have been off the back of a win. Everybody will be happier, more lively. We know the situation in the league so we'll flip straight back to that and we know this is a huge game.

"I'm not going to say it's going to have an absolutely massive impact on the weekend, because it probably won't, but in terms of the feel-good factor around us it certainly will.

"I'm sure that when it comes to Saturday nobody will be stepping out on to the pitch thinking about midweek, they'll be fully focused on what they've got to do. For us, we want to build confidence and for Arsenal, they'll want a response."
