Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen could be back in action in the Carling Cup meeting with Bolton at the Emirates tomorrow.
The Belgian centre-half has not played since the Champions League qualifier against Udinese on August 24 because of an Achilles injury and is a chance to resume when the Gunners host the Trotters in the fourth round of the league cup competition.
Arsenal are also preparing for the weekend's vital Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge indicating that Arsene Wenger is likely to rest either Laurent Koscielny or Per Mertesacker - or both - meaning there is a spot for Vermaelen at the back.
