Velez Sarsfield sports chief Pablo Cavallero has revealed Barcelona have made a move for Thiago Almada.

The young midfielder has been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City.

But Cavallero told La Nacion: "I know that FC Barcelona have approached the technical secretary for Thiago Almada.

"But we know that he is only 19 years old and that he must continue to mature.

"If an offer impossible to refuse arrives for the player, we will assess it."
