Vega backing Celtic push for Arsenal defender Campbell

Ramon Vega is backing former club Celtic's pursuit of Arsenal defender Sol Campbell.

Former Hoops star Vega spent four years in the trenches with Celtic target Campbell at Spurs.

And he reckons the Arsenal star is EXACTLY the kind of player that his old club is crying out for.

Vega told the Scottish Sun: "I played alongside Sol for four-and-a-half years at Spurs. He was a mountain of a man. A true defender.

"He remains one of the most competitive players I've ever known. Winning was everything to him.

"I have looked at Celtic this season and they have lacked leaders. My old team-mate Neil Lennon spoke about this too.

"When I was at Celtic we had characters, strong characters, in every corner of the dressing room - Lenny, Johan Mjallby, Chris Sutton, John Hartson and Henrik Larsson. We had leaders and winners. Well, Sol is a leader - he's also a winner. That's why Lenny will be so keen to sign him.

"Sol has tremendous experience, he's ex-England captain and, in my opinion, very unlucky to be left out of their World Cup squad this year.

"He is the complete package in every sense of the word."
