Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has expressed his delight at being named captain in midweek.
The French centre half, who is a World Cup winner, played in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup third round.
As Varane eases his way back to full fitness, manager Erik ten Hag chose to give him minutes in the contest, despite rotating most of his starting lineup.
Taking to Instagram, Varane posted a story with the caption: "Proud to captain our special club tonight Manchester United."
He also included a photo of himself leading out the players from the tunnel ahead of the game.
Varane and United next take on Crystal Palace at home again, this time in the Premier League on Saturday.
