Vancouver Whitecaps targeting Wenger at SuperDraft

Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie suggests that the club may go after Andrew Wenger in Thursday's 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

The versatile Duke University star has been touted as a top pick and the Whitecaps are keen to take him at two if Montreal Impact, as expected, go after a striker.

Former Carolina RailHawks coach Rennie knows Wenger well from his time involved in the ACC and admits he is a player that appeals to Vancouver.

"I saw him quite a lot," Rennie said of Wenger.

"I think he sees himself as more of a defender. If a player has that perspective on themselves, then realistically that's likely where he'll end up.

"He's also a good person and a good leader."
