MLS expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps have extended a trial invitation to Chinese forward Tan Long.

The Whitecaps are continuing their preparations for their entry into the top flight in 2011 and have brought in the former Chinese youth international to see if he has what it takes to make it at in the major league.

The 22-year old joined USL outfit Atlanta Blackhawks in 2009 before spending this year with FC Tampa Bay. He had a trial with Philadelphia Union earlier this year but was unsuccessful in his pursuits.
