Vancouver Whitecaps end Jarju experiment

Vancouver Whitecaps have bought out the contract of recently released Designated Player Mustapha Jarju.

The 25-year old Gambian striker did not produce what the Whitecaps were hoping and they have now paid out $470,000-a-year contract, ending his time with the club.

Jarju joined last year from Belgian second division club RAEC Mons but did not score a goal or produce an assist in 10 appearances.

There was talk that he could rejoin the team for pre-season training but Vancouver's move to pay out the contract has forced him out of the club with a return to Mons highly likely.
