Vancouver Whitecaps distance themselves from Tottenham's Bentley

Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi has dismissed claims that the club is set to sign Tottenham winger David Bentley on loan.

The 27-year olds agent has revealed that a loan deal to an unnamed MLS club is a distinct possibility with the Whitecaps being widely tipped to acquire his services on a short-term deal.

But Lenarduzzi told the Vancouver Sun that the former Arsenal, Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and West Ham United midfielder will not be heading to BC Place.

"That seems way out there," Lenarduzzi said. "I don't know where that one came from."
