Vancouver Whitecaps acquire Nguyen through weighted lottery

Vancouver Whitecaps have secured the services of Lee Nguyen via a weighted lottery.

The 25-year old, who signed a multi-year deal MLS deal early last week, will now head to Vancouver to resume his career in his homeland.

Nguyen was born in Texas to Vietnamese parents and has spent his playing days with PSV Eindhoven, Randers and more recently in Vietnam with Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Becamex Binh Duong.

Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie was delighted to welcome the midfielder/forward, who has represented the USA on three occasions, to BC Place Stadium.

"We're very excited to add a talented player like Lee," said Martin Rennie. "He's a young player with a bright future. We look forward to seeing him in preseason."

Nguyen added: "I'm really excited to be joining Whitecaps FC and to help this club push forward. I can't wait to get the season started."
