Robin van Persie intends to shelve his summer holidays to be available for the start of Manchester United's preseason. The Sunday Mirror says Van Persie is ready to sacrifice his summer holidays to show his commitment to the Dutch revolution arriving at Manchester United.
RVP has made it clear to friends that he has no intention of taking the FIFA-recommended four-week break after Holland's World Cup fate is known.
Instead, the 30-year-old Dutch striker wants to be included in the Reds' five-game pre-season tour of the United States and take a full part in new boss Louis van Gaal's plans for the coming campaign.
United will fly out to Los Angeles on July 17 - just four days after the World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro.
A source close to RVP said: "There is no way Robin will want to miss United's pre-season tour - especially when it will be the start of Van Gaal's reign at the club.
"If Holland go all the way to the final, he may be persuaded to take a week or two off because he has learned to listen to his body.
"But you can be sure he will want to go to America so that he can begin working with Van Gaal as soon as possible.
"It may get to the point where the manager has to pull rank and order Van Persie to go on holiday."
