Robin van Persie denies having an influence on Manchester United appointing Louis van Gaal as manager.
The Holland coach will take charge after the World Cup.
Asked about his closeness with Van Gaal, Van Persie told RTL: "Yes, we have a very strong bond. It has been good since day one."
When a cheeky journalist asked if that's how Van Gaal landed the United job, Van Persie responded: "No I don't have that function. Maybe in the future I can become director of football!"
The Dutch striker then added: "He has that [a good relationship] with almost all of his players. Everyone respects him, everyone believes in him."
