Holland coach Bert van Marwijk is upset for PSV Eindhoven fullback Erik Pieters after injury ruled him out of his Euros squad.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew remains keen on the defender, who will miss the summer tournament with a foot injury.

"I think for the Netherlands Erik has done very well," said Van Marwijk. "He actually keeps getting better and better. If he'd been fit, he would've been my first-choice left-back.

"I think Erik doesn't realise how good he is. With him, its always been a mental thing."
