Van der Sar says Man Utd form unaffected by Cup mauling

Edwin van der Sar doesn't believe Manchester United's Carling Cup mauling at West Ham United will affect their form.

Van der Sar is confident United will push on from the Blackburn performance when league action resumes.

"We were on a high after the Blackburn result last weekend, and when Chelsea drew with Newcastle on Sunday," Van der Sar told Key 103. "It's been quite a turnaround in the last few weeks in the league for us.

"In the Carling Cup some of the younger players were given the chance to catch the manager's eye, but it didn't really materialise for them, so the whole squad is disappointed.

"But we're still top of the league. We may have dropped a lot of points already and expected to be five or six points behind, but we're two ahead.

"So let's hope we can build on the Blackburn game and achieve the same understanding between the players as last weekend, to bring us more points and better results."
