Edwin van der Sar is ready to stay with Manchester United for another season and help bed down his eventual successor Ben Foster.
But the Holland international revealed he hopes to open talks about a one-year extension in December and hinted that his new role may involve some coaching.
He said: "My agent has not heard anything official from the club yet, but I expect to hold talks with the relevant people in December. Last year we extended my contract in that month, so that could well happen again.
"I'm very happy here. I'm playing at a very high level every week and with my experience I can maybe help the younger players a lot in the future."
