Valencia are expected to confirm the signing of Racing Santander striker Nikola Zigic today.

Negotiations had appeared to have fallen through yesterday afternoon over Zigic's personal demands and Racing's unwillingness to factor that into their asking price.

However, an evening phone hook-up between Racing president Francisco Pernia and Valencia counterpart Juan Soler appears to have ironed all difficulties.

Valencia will be able to sign Zigic for a lower fee than Racing's original £10 million demand, but may send a player to Santander as part of the agreement.
