Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo is set to finalise his move to Middlesbrough soon, according to multiple reports.

Aitor Karanka's side have recently flown into Marbella, where they will take part in three pre-season friendlies, and Negredo is set to join them early this week.

Boro hope to finalise an initial loan deal for the 30-year-old striker while they are in Spain as Karanka continues to strengthen his squad for the Teesside club's return to the Premier League.

Negredo spent time with Manchester City between 2013 and 2015 and will now get the chance to again play in England's top flight following a subpar spell at the Etihad Stadium, which included a loan stint at Valencia prior to his permanent move to the Mestalla.
