Valencia signing Fernandes grew frustrated with Everton delays

Manuel Fernandes chose to snub Everton and join Valencia yesterday after losing patience over negotiations between the Premiership club and his sponsors.

The Daily Mail says the Portugal Under 21 midfielder had spent the past week training on Merseyside as Everton tried to iron out an agreement with the Premier League and Fernandes' agents, Global Sports Agency, for his permanent transfer from Benfica.

However, it is understood Fernandes was concerned a deal had not been done and flew out of Liverpool after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackburn.

Valencia paid about £10million for Fernandes - who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton - and will give him a six-year deal with a £28.5m buy-out clause.
