Liverpool are joining the battle for Valencia stars David Villa and David Silva. Las Provincias says Liverpool chief Eduardo Macia met with the vice-president of Valencia, Fernando Gomez, last week in the Spanish city to discuss several of their players.

Silva, David Villa and Raul Albiol are all interesting Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

It's suggested Gomez told Macia to make him an offer for Silva and Villa on the spot. Macia was keen to discuss player swaps, but Gomez was adamant they would only consider cash.
