Usucar impresses Adelaide United in first hit-out

Adelaide United recruit Francisco Usucar impressed his new club in his first training session yesterday morning.

The 24-year old signed with the Reds earlier this week and will spend two weeks training with and getting to know his new teammates and the systems the second-placed club use.

Usucar, who is eligible for selection from January 1 when the transfer window opens, yesterday showed Adelaide coach Rini Coolen why the club was so keen t sign him.

"He was playing at the highest level in his country, he also played some international games as a youth player," Coolen said.

"He's strong, fast, he's a quick thinker and I think he can definitely help us in the midfield…and we have to find players who can play directly with us and he was available…I'm real happy to have him here at the moment.

"We're happy to have him here…we'll use the next couple of weeks to prepare him for when he can play for us in January, so it's good to have him here now."

Usucar has just come off a full season in his homeland of Uruguay where he played with Central Espanol in the Primera Division. He has signed with Adelaide for the remainder of the season with the possibility of a further one year extension.
