USA coach Klinsmann keen to see more of his team move to Europe

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann is keen for more of his players to move to Europe.

Seattle Sounders and USA fullback DeAndre Yedlin will join Klinsmann's former club Tottenham in January.

Klinsmann told the London Evening Standard: "I hope it will happen in the next few years. We have tremendous talent coming through but talent is not enough.

"You need to have the mental side of it, the professional side of it. You need to learn what it is to be a high-end professional 24/7, so we always refer to people like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and what it will take to be at their level one day.

"I think we will develop more and more talent and that they will be able to attract the attention of the top clubs, but our wish is for it to happen in the next few years.

"In a game against a side like Colombia, who reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, the learning experience is huge for our players. Some of the opponents represent top European clubs, like James Rodriguez at Real Madrid.

"It's our goal to get our players into these clubs so when they come up against guys like these, they want to prove their capabilities and do well. They need to learn to be alert and focused for an entire game.

"We want them to learn what it is to be on your toes for 90 minutes, because if you lose that for just one moment, a player like James Rodriguez will score against you. This will be a huge learning curve for us over the next few years."
