US TV bidding war for Premier League rights

The Premier League is becoming so popular in the US that a bidding war has sparked for its TV rights.

The Daily Mail says the current US deal with NBC is worth $250m over three years, which itself was worth over three times more than the previous agreement with another sizeable rise in the offing.

Already both of NBC's main football rivals, ESPN and Fox, have indicated they will bid, while BeIN Sport might also be a contender.

NBC boss Mark Lazarus told PL clubs at a presentation that it would demonstrate the deal being a success if they had to pay double next time to retain the contract.
