US Soccer denies Australia friendly is on the cards

Reports of a friendly between the USA and Australia have been denied by the US Soccer Federation.

It had been suggested earlier in the week that Juergen Klinsmann's US side were set to come up against the Asian champions in July as a tune-up to the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Fox Sports USA reportedly presented a graphic of the US team's upcoming schedule with the July 3 fixture with the Socceroos included but a US Soccer spokesman has denied they are set to meet Ange Postecoglou's men.

"We do not have a match scheduled against Australia in July," a federation spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com.

The USA's next match takes place on March 25 against Denmark in Aarhus which occurs six days prior to a meeting with Switzerland in Zurich.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup, which the US won in 2013, kicks off on July 7 in Frisco, Texas.
