US president Obama set to honor 2013 champs Sporting Kansas City

President Barack Obama will honor reigning MLS champions Sporting Kansas City next week.

The 2013 MLS Cup winners will be present at the White House in Washington, DC on Wednesday to be greeted by President Obama who has made a habit of honoring the title-holders since he took office in 2009.

SKC take on New England Revolution at home this weekend before travelling to the nation's capital next week for their October 3 meeting with DC United.

Peter Vermes' Sporting side finished second on the Eastern Conference table last season, a point behind Supporters' Shield winners New York Red Bulls, before beating Real Salt Lake in the final 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
