LA Galaxy's US captain Landon Donovan is backing former Everton teammate Leighton Baines to make England's World Cup squad.

The Everton left-back has already been named on Fabio Capello's 30 man provisional list for the pre-tournament friendlies with Mexico and Japan this month.

"I'm not surprised that Bainesy made it," Donovan exclusively told evertonfc.com.

"I was really impressed with him during my time at Everton and I'm pulling for him to make the 23 man roster."
