UNCOVERED: Mourinho 2005 Barcelona scouting report revealed

A scouting report on Barcelona from former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been uncovered.

The report was composed during Mourinho's first spell at Chelsea ahead of their memorable Champions League last sixteen clash against Barcelona in the 2005-2006 season which the Blues ended up losing 3-2 on aggregate.

On the ex-Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho Mourinho said: "Very poor defensive transition and defensive work - exploit. Constant cheater - falls easily."

Barcelona's then-captain Carles Puyol was described as: "Aggressive but very emotional. Gets crazy with the referee in fouls against him and goes mad in provocations. Aggressive defender, plays in anticipation using body. Bad positional sense (comes to midfield with striker) and bad leadership of defence (wants to do offside when it's not possible).

A young Lionel Messi was only just breaking into the Barcelona side at this time, but Mourinho could clearly already see the huge potential of the Argentinean.

He said: "Quality + speed but very left footed. Exactly the same behaviours as Ronaldinho. Inside between lines or diagonals. Encourages team forward by ball driving. Amazing 1 vs 1."

And for Andres Iniesta: "Always comes on from the bench. Very dynamic player. Great radius of action. Speed of movement and speed of execution. Tricky player."
