Unbeaten run means nothing until success is achieved says Chelsea's Matic

Nemanja Matic says Chelsea's extended unbeaten streak counts for absolutely nothing until they win the title.

The Blues are undefeated in 13 Premier League fixtures, have not lost in five Champions League outings and have won both of their Capital One Cup matches so far this season making it 20 games without tasting defeat.

However, Serbian midfielder Matic knows very well that things can change after failing to win any silverware with Benfica in 2012/13 despite not losing for 28 matches in a season which saw them lose the Portuguese title to FC Porto, the Portuguese Cup and the Europa League final to the Blues.

"We lost three titles in two weeks," said Matic.

"It was very hard to take. These things happen only one season in a thousand years. We played well the whole season and were unbeaten for so long. It shows you can never be certain of anything.

"If we want to win the league we must continue like this until the end. Even if we're top and unbeaten with two games to go we must not believe we've won it.

"We must not stop until the title is ours. We must fight and at Chelsea I believe we are ready for that."

Chelsea currently sit six points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Wednesday night's home clash with London rivals Tottenham.
