Ulivieri warns Reggina: I'm no magician

Renzo Ulivieri admits Reggina faces a big battle to beat the drop this season after his appointment this week.

Ulivieri, 63, was unveiled as new Reggina coach yesterday following Thursday's dismissal of Massimo Ficcadenti and said: "There is no such thing as a football magician who can change the cards on the table and it would not make sense for me to completely revolutionise the side ahead of the match with Napoli.

"Now we will go ahead as we are without turning the work done so far upside down."

Reggina are now the only team in Serie A without a victory this season and face a very tough task against on-form Napoli.

"We can avoid relegation as long as all the components gel to create a united squad. We are also hoping that the fans will help us, as at the Granillo they can really make an impact."

Reggina president Lillo Foti said: "Our situation after two months did not reflect our pre-season plans. We needed a change of direction and went to a Coach like Ulivieri who can provide charisma and character to a side that absolutely needs it."
