UEFA have upped the price of Champions League final tickets as they stand to make a record £14million profit.
Minimum cost tickets for the May 28 event at Wembley Stadium have been put up to £80 with the majority of tickets going for between £150 and £300
UEFA's head of communications Giorgio Marchetti has tried to explain the rapid price rise, saying that they have to make it comparable to other 'worldly' events.
"We have to benchmark this event against other comparable events like, for example, the final of the European Championship and the World Cup," he said.
"The prices are based on this type of event and when you compare it to other events we don't think that the Champions League Final is overpriced.
"We do not want to squeeze every single penny out of the market. Unfortunately - and we cannot control this at all - what are the prices that some tickets go on the black market, which are much higher than this?
"This is the market price. Do you think we would have trouble filling Wembley if the prices were higher? You think it would be different?
"We try to strike a balance between the interest of the supporters and the interest of the event. Why should we price the tickets lower than what we think is a fair level."
