Jack Rodwell believes the lengthy break will help Sunderland recover from last weekend's heavy defeat to Crystal Palace.
The Black Cats, who were beaten 4-1 at the Stadium of Light by the Eagles on Saturday, do not play again until April 25 which midfielder Rodwell feels will be a good opportunity for manager Dick Advocaat to work closely with the squad.
"The head coach is also still new to the club and the extended break will give us more time to work with him before the next game", Rodwell said.
Sunderland, currently sitting 16th on the Premier League table, travel to 10th-placed Stoke City next weekend.
