Two released as Burnley keep Lennon

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is happy to hold onto Aaron Lennon for next season.

The Mirror says Lennon is staying at Burnley after the club handed him a 12-month contract extension.

Lennon, 32, is still recovering from knee surgery, which has kept him out since December, but boss Sean Dyche has activated the option in his contract to tie him down for next season.

The former England and Tottenham winger, who cost £4million from Everton in January 2018, made 22 appearances for Burnley before his injury and Dyche feels he can still make a valuable contribution.

Meanwhile, the Clarets have released Irish defender Stephen Ward and Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard after their contracts ended, while Jon Walters has retired because of injury.
