Two clean sheets but position not guaranteed for Newcastle Jets' Nash

Back-to-back clean sheets may not be enough for Matthew Nash to keep his spot in the Newcastle Jets starting line-up.

The 29-year old has been impressive in three matches for the Jets since stepping in for the injured Ben Kennedy three weeks ago.

Nash played a full 90 minutes in the 2-1 exhibition win over LA Galaxy on November 28, making a couple of crucial saves, and took that form into the past two A-League matches with blank canvases for the revitalized Hunter club.

But Kennedy, who was irrepressible prior to his knee injury, returned to training this week and has declared himself fit for tomorrow night's home clash with Gold Coast United.

Nash is remaining realistic about his position at the club, especially seeing as he is actually an injury replacement for Neil Young who continues to recover from medical complications surrounding a broken nose from last season.

"BK's (Kennedy) been doing it all year," Nash told the Newcastle Herald.

"I've only done it for two games. I made saves you should make as a keeper - nothing out of the ordinary.

"More or less, the boys in front of me have been making it easy.

"I mean the guys are hitting shots from outside the box, so you should be saving them."
