FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer remains frustrated missing a move to Everton.

Fitness doubts forced Everton to restructure their method of payment for Fer, which saw Twente pull out of negotiations.

"This is something I wanted, but alas. Maybe I was too quick to assume that I was a player of Everton and I regret making it look that way in interviews. But it's just the way it went.

"Everyone is behind me and I hope the fans are too."
