Tunnicliffe says Man Utd U21 going for trophy clean sweep

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe says the U21s are going for a trophy clean sweep.

United took a big step towards sealing a place in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League semi-finals after victory over Tottenham last week.

With the Reserves still involved in the Manchester Senior Cup and Lancashire Senior Cup, Tunnicliffe is keen to repeat last term's clean sweep of trophies at this level.

"I think we have set a marker for the rest of the year," he told MUTV. "If we get to the final, it looks like we could play Tottenham and we've proved we can beat them.

"Obviously, we've played them four times now this year and we've both won two each so you can't say they're better than us, they've just picked up more points elsewhere, although I'm not taking anything away from them because that's why they are top of the league and they're a very good team.

"We want to win everything, whatever tournament we are in - the Lancashire Senior Cup, Manchester Senior Cup and to be crowned the best team in England is what we're striving for. We don't want to go out at an earlier stage and then have nothing to play for - we want to keep going until the end."
