Newcastle Jets defender Ljubo Milicevic is almost certain to quit the club after just two games.

The former Melbourne Victory man returned to his home state for personal reasons but Jets coach Gary van Egmond was unhappy and the two had a heated discussion.

Reports suggest that the 27-year old will not return to Newcastle and that he has felt 'disillusioned' during his one month there.

Milicevic's form in the opening Asian Champions League games was superb and his departure comes at a bad time, especially since goalkeeper Ante Covic signed with Swedish club Elfsborg last week.
