A trio of potential signings will arrive in Newcastle next month to trial with the Jets.
Crystal Palace midfielder Jamie Smith and Panama international Victor Herrera are definites to join the Jets for a trial and the club is awaiting confirmation from former Southampton striker Marians Pahars.
Jets technical director Branko Culina said the club was keen to see the trio in action before the Asian Champions League clash with Pohang Steelers on June 24.
"We need to see them before we depart for Korea," Culina said.
"After that we are having a break and we want to be in a position where [coach] Gary [van Egmond] and his assistant, Mark Jones, have a settled squad once they start preparing for the A-League."
Former Jets star Nicky Carle said that Crystal Palace teammate Smith would be a great asset for the A-League club.
"Nicky Carle recommends him very highly," Culina added.
"Apparently the reason he has not played is because he is quite young, and secondly he is not a typical English player.
"He is very much a ball player, a creative player."
