Triaud: Arsenal boss Wenger reckons he didn't need Chamakh

Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud insists Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wasn't serious about signing Marouane Chamakh in the summer.

Chamakh admitted a move to the Emirates would be his priority, yet Triaud claimed their offer was 'unacceptable'.

He said: "They made me an unacceptable offer.

"Then I had no further news for a fortnight. I picked up the phone and said: 'What are you doing Arsene?' and he told me: 'It's fine, I don't need Chamakh, whatever the transfer costs'."
