Travel experience has Central Coast Mariners primed

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Rostyn Griffiths is confident that the players are now used to constant travel and feels the team is in good stead to take on Wellington Phoenix this weekend.

The third-placed Mariners take on the Phoenix at Westpac Stadium tomorrow and Griffiths believes Graham Arnold's men are better equipped on the road now than what they were earlier in the seasons.

"They (Wellington) looked pretty solid (in Perth last weekend), but I think playing against our sort of system we can open them up a bit and create a few chances and hopefully do a bit better than we did last time over there, now we know what the travel is like, everyone has gotten used to it so it should be a bit better this time around for us," Griffiths said.

And the former Blackburn Rovers reserves man believes the Mariners depth is also a major plus this season.

"It just shows the quality of the squad, if I don't play, people like John Hutchinson play, so Arnie took a bit of a gamble with me but I'd like to think I'm repaying him," he added.
