Toyota has increased its support of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), becoming a full partner of the regional soccer body, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The Japanese firm has signed a two-year deal to add the body's club programme to its existing support of the AFC's national programme. Financial terms of the agreement have not been released.
Toyota, an official sponsor of Asia's national team tournaments since 2012, will now also support various club competitions on the continent, such as the AFC Champions League, the AFC Cup and the AFC Futsal Club tournaments.
"We are delighted to welcome Toyota as a full partner of the AFC in the year of our 60th anniversary," said AFC president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
"Toyota is one of the leaders in the automobile industry globally and they have been supporting Asian football for a long time.
"The AFC believes Toyota will maximise its sponsorship programme as an AFC partner and the AFC will also receive great benefits from Toyota's activities."
