Roma captain Francesco Totti is at a loss to explain their crisis.

"There isn't just one reason behind what is happening to us at the moment, that would be reductive," said the attacking midfielder.

"We need to win. That is the only option I know to get out of this situation and see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are playing very badly and that was clear in Basel.

"I cannot understand what's wrong. [Former Coach Luciano] Spalletti used to ask us for more complicated passing moves.

"Ranieri asks us to be more simple in our football, yet we still can't seem to put that advice into practice. It's incredible, I really can't explain it."
