Francesco Totti is backing AS Roma's pursuit of Siena striker Mattia Destro.

Roma are in advanced negotiations with Destro, although the player owned by Genoa and Siena is hesitating over wage demands.

"Destro can become a top striker," said Totti. "Siena is a different atmosphere to Roma, but we will help him settle in.

"He's not a Roma player yet, but I hope he can become a top player in the next two or three years."
