Tottenham winger Andros Townsend admits his England call has come as a surprise this season.
Townsend, who was born in the same suburb as former England captain David Beckham - Leytonstone - admits he did not expect to be part of England's World Cup qualifying campaign.
He said: "To be honest, all I hoped for at the beginning of the season was to get some starts in the Europa League and then hopefully break into Spurs Premier League side.
"But winning games breeds confidence no matter who you are playing against.
"Roy Hodgson told me to continue what I am doing and I would get in the squad, so that is what I have been trying to do.
"I have a tough enough battle trying to stay in this team - I can't worry about England.
"I just have to focus on Tottenham and hopefully the other rewards will come if I am still playing well.
"I play my game with no fear."
