Tottenham wing-back Rose making most of unique Team GB opportunity

Tottenham wing-back Danny Rose admits he's drawing inspiration from his Team GB selection.

Tottenham now see him as a left-back rather than a midfielder and there is a danger he could be sent out on loan again next term. Still, despite the uncertainty surrounding his club career, Rose is clearly focused on making the most of this very rare opportunity.

He told the London Evening Standard: "When you first heard that the squad were being picked from 300- odd players, it's almost like X-Factor. I was just happy to be in that group.

"Now I've made it, I don't just want to be happy to be here, I want to do the best I can to come back with a medal and I hope it's going to be gold.

"Silver or Bronze would be a great achievement given the standard of the teams here, you look at the likes of Spain and Brazil, but I definitely want to come back with a medal.

"I was over the moon when I found out I was in the squad. It was my birthday and my friends and family had gone to great effort to get me a few bits but being told you're going to be in the Olympics was the best birthday present I could have wished for."
