Tottenham have suspended transfer talks with Monaco over Eidur Gudjohnsen until the end of the season.
The Sunday Mirror says the move is a calculated risk by White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy with several top-flight rivals already tabling deals to Gudjohnsen's advisers.
The former Chelsea and Barcelona star moved to White Hart Lane on a loan deal from French club Monaco in January until the end of the current campaign.
Gudjohnsen and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp have made no secret of the fact they would like to make the move permanent.
But Levy is refusing to commit to a deal while Tottenham's Champions League qualification hangs in the balance.
