Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda is set to be axed for his strop in Sunday's Carling Cup final against Chelsea.

Chimbonda had to apologise to Juande Ramos, the head coach, after walking down the tunnel when he was substituted at Wembley - and is now set to be replaced by new left-back signing Gilberto for Saturday's match against Birmingham City.

"I had a muscle problem which hardly anyone knew about," Gilberto said. "This Carling Cup victory shows why I left Hertha. I wanted to play for a top team who can win the [Premier League] title."
