Tottenham still have hopes of signing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

City are eager to sell Adebayor to Spurs and willing to keep their asking price low, but the stumbling block is the striker 's £170,000-a-week wage demands.

A compromise could be struck by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy offering Adebayor a huge signing on bonus in order to bring his salary into line with the rest of the squad.
